So Fresh and So Clean Clean
Went for a visit to our local for a freshen up for BDH. Something super cool about an old school Barbar shop. Not sure whether its the classic vinyl chairs, the vibey playlists or just the banter between them all... but it definitely had a lot of character.
As i sat there watching I quickly realized this was no ordinary haircut and that there was definitley an art to it... I became really intrigued watching Danny take so much time and precision to make sure he was happy with his work. I have always believed that there are lessons to be learnt everywhere in life. Be it from people, situations or circumstances that may come your way. The problem is we are often too busy, to distracted or too self involved to be present enough to even notice.
So what did i learn today from watching and listening and being in the moment? I learnt that people need people...deep i know... haha but for real I realized how important a sense of community is and the difference it makes in someones life when they don't have that.
We are so spoiled with church and the amazing people that we get to do life with and to be honest it can be easy to forget that not everyone has that in their own lives. Without it the truth is life can can be extremly lonely.
It doesn't take much to stop and have a conversation with someone ...in this case it may have seemed compulsory. You aint going anywhere BDH haha but it was really cool to see what genuine authentic conversation looked like as this guy opened up to Ben about life , faith and family and who really knows what it did in his heart.
I also learnt that we can find miracles in the mundane. God delights in using us to reach people and encourage others and it doesn't need to only be at church on a sunday or when you feel like it. In fact its OFTEN in the ordinary , mundane situations where i have found that an opportunity presents itself to show people kindness and love that they otherwise would not encounter.
So my lesson today was simply this...never get too busy or self absorbed in our own plans to stop and really see people. Take a minute to encourage someone else, offer some kind words, a listening ear or even just a smile. Because you never know the difference it might make in someone else life.
